The Alberni Valley Hospice Society sustains compassionate care, human dignity while providing education and advocacy to individuals and their families facing life-limiting illness, death, and bereavement. Some of our services are available to a broader demographic within the community, including our Lending Library, Advance Care Planning Assistance, and the Reflections Life Story Recording Program.

Program Information:

Hospice Palliative Care:

We can provide information, emotional and practical support from the time of diagnosis (even if a full recovery is expected), through advanced illness, death and bereavement. Support is provided for family, friends, and caregivers.

Grief & Bereavment Support:

Family members of clients on our palliative program are routinely followed for up to one year following the death on an as-needed or desired basis. Anticipatory grief support is also available, for those expecting the loss of a loved one.

Reflections – Life Storytelling:

Volunteers help to record life stories for those in palliative care, long-term care, assisted living facilities, recipient of community care support or anyone who has reached the age of eighty.

Advanced Care Planning:

Free workshops on advanced care planning.
